Hotel Negresco - Νίκαια

The Negresco may not be up to modern 5-star standards, but in its own quirky way it is quite wonderful. The service is impeccable, the decor of the public areas is unique, the rooms are sumptuous and the situation cannot be bettered. Overlook the slightly dated bathrooms and the average breakfast. Stay here, even if only once, to experience Old France at its best.

This hotel was exquisitely decorated with art, each floor showcasing a different theme and artist. The lobby alone is jaw-dropping, but considering the location on the coast of the Cote d'Azur just down from old town and all the shopping a tourist could wish for, it was all so stunning. The room decor was a dream come true as was the bar downstairs. Although we did not dine in the restaurant, we had an exceptional bottle of champagne where the bartenders and live piano player showered us with attention and a really great time. If you are planning a trip to Nice, book Hotel Negresco, it really does exceed any expectations I had and completely the loveliness of our stay.

This hotel is very interesting...and the last privately owned hotel in Nice. I met the 86 year old owner in the elevator! Fun, comfortable and very pleasant service. Only drawback - the breakfast was really expensive!

From the minute we arrived at the Negresco we felt like we were royalty. The staff were so helpful, courteous and extremely professional. The surroundings were opulent and it was like staying in a museum with historical items all around. The rooms were luxurious and each one was different, with antique furniture in the room. I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere before that had silk fabric on the walls instead of wallpaper! The bar was so relaxing, except when we had to pay the bar tab! I would love to have the chance to return.

The hotel is a museum and each floor is a different collection. Odd, interesting, fun it's all there. Our room with a garden and sea view was fabulous, pillows great, closet space terrific, staff very nice and helpful.

The Hotel itself was charming and very clean but for the price and the 5 star rating I expected perfection. The outlet in the room kept breaking because the hotel was so old and so we had to choose between watching tv and charging our computers. The Front desk got a bit perturbed with us calling down to have it fixed for the 3rd time and told us to stop using the outlets in the room. Although internet service was sketchy in the rooms it was free so we couldn't complain, right? The room and bathroom was very clean but cheaply furnished. The curtains were very tacky and made from cheap materials and the bathroom counters were made of formica. They room was okay in a photograph but somewhat tacky in person. But with all that said, the service was great (they were able to allow us to add two more nights to our stay, due to a change of plans, even during the Cannes Film Festival) and the location was superb. We still managed to have a terrific stay and I would still recommend the hotel to others.

The Hotel Negresco is an experience! One of those things you have to do before you die. It is like a visitor friendly, luxuriously appointed museum/art gallery, run to the highest standards.

This was the most unique, whimsical, classic, creative place I have ever stayed. I had heard that it was a great hotel, but it exceeded my expectations by a lot. It is a majestic biulding overlooking the beach. The lobby is actually a musuem...and not a stuffy place, rather a an eccliectic mix of clasic and contemporary. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Nice, France.

Beautiful hotel. Very expensive. We went as a treat for our wedding anniversary and got a reasonable deal from hotels.com. Room was very good and service was excellent. Nice is a beautiful city and the hotel is very convenient for local amenities and tours. The bus from the airport leaves you just across the road from the hotel. Dont bother with a taxi. They are ten times the price and im not exagerating. Hotel is only ten minutes from airport by bus.

The service was fine. It has everything you would expect from any hotel. However, for the exceedlingly high price, more amenities should be offered. For example, there should be a way to connect a laptop to the Internet in the room free of charge. Even without laptop, the high-speed connection in the room should be included in the price. Really, there is nothing in essence in the hotel that justifies the high room prices. Essentially, we are paying for the location and, in my case, a balcony and gorgeous view of the sea. If you want to blow an extravagant wad on a special occasion, this is the place. If you are looking for value, look elsewhere.
