Novotel Athenes - Αθήνα

This hotel was a big disappointment. It's not very close to a metro line and forces you to walk through sub-optimal neighborhoods (for up to a half mile) to get there. There are no sheets on the bed, but rather, a comforter that apparently has it's cover changed daily (we felt that was a little suspect). There were grime stains in the shower and dirt stains on the floor. There was only one front desk person working after 11pm (when we got there) and after 2 requests for sheets, we finally had a security guard bring them to us (only to find out they were the extra covers the comforter).

The hotel was nice however, when our friends picked us up to go out, they told us not to walk outside by ourselves at night, it was semi-dangerous. You can tell somewhat when you are there but because the normal tourist areas in Athens are generally dirty anyway, you may not fully realize. The pool area was very nice and easy access. The hotel overall is a little warm, air conditioning was not really working so well.

Hotel was great - lovely pool etc and views of the Acropolis, however the location is a bit of a nothing location. We always had to get the metro to sites and out again out for dinner as there was nothing around the hotel. However for the price, you wouldn't find anything as good quality anywhere near the Acropolis.

Really cool and modern inside. Felt very European and hip. Rooftop restaurant was yummy, a little pricey, but had interesting things i wouldn't have had otherwise. The night view from the roof was unbeatable with the lit up acropolis in the distance. Realized too late that the "Larissa" station on the metro system was indeed the closer stop to find hotel on foot. A couple of euros for internet use in a separate lobby lounge was very handy. A very roomy room at a good price. We thought the neighborhood a bit rough, but then we could see, it was a bit tough all over compared to the smaller town we come from; don't be put off, it's not dangerous, people live in the neighborhood after all. I loved the handy rooftop pool for mid-day cooling off and view. We didn't have the breakfast at 15euros because we got frappe and fresh bakery at every turn on our way to the metro.

The hotel room, building, and facilities were nice - what you would expect from a 4-star hotel. We were happy with the pool (one of the reasons we chose this hotel) - while the weather was not warm enough to swim, we were able to spend a lazy afternoon by the side of the pool. The location of the hotel is not near all of the tourist areas (acropolis, agora, etc), but it is a close walk to the subway stop. Also, we only spent 1-2 days site-seeing and spent the rest of the in other areas of Athens, so it didn't really matter to us to stay exactly next to the tourist areas. One thing about the hotel that bothered us was that they charged extra for almost everything else besides the room that you would expect/want from a hotel -- internet, movies, even a converter (they only had a limited amount and suggested that we buy one from the guest shop). The staff was also not very helpful in terms of suggesting where to go in Athens. All in all though, we were satisfied with our stay, although I do not think I would pay the regular price for this hotel (happy that we found a discount through hotels.com!)

I had never stayed at a Novotel before. The decor was contemporary and the furnishings were sleek. The hotel was very clean. It's the first time in a long time that I've been in a hotel with windows that open, and it was great to experience the fresh air at the end of the day. The staff was well informed and helpful. All the hotel employees I encountered spoke excellent English. The hotel was within walking distance (several blocks) of the subway station and, although I never felt unsafe, the area around the hotel was not very inspiring.

Great hotel but a bit further away from the train station than expected- seems to be more of a business hotel than leisure The rooftop views were great but the all the lights were off up there and the rooftop restaurant was closed so be sure to askabout it if you are staying in Oct

If you want to be more close to the main Athes atractions, dont stay in thi hotel. The rooms are nice,and the staff too; but when you come tired at night you dont want to walk 10 to 15 minutes to the hotel. Also, the roof restaurant was closed die to "inconvenient weather".

Novotel Athenes was a GREAT place to stay!The room was comfortable and clean and the bathroom was really nice. We were impressed that it was so modern..even had a flat screen t.v. The gym was also a plus. The breakfast was quite good. The only negative was that it wasn't located right by the Plaka area, but it gave us a chance to walk there and see how the locals live...not just the tourists!

The rooms were small, even for European standards. The air conditioner when turned all the way down kept you reasonable comfortable. However if it had been in the summer I doubtif it would have been adequate. The hotel was some distance from the tourist spots but it was only a 5-10 minute walk to the Metro. All in all, it is not a bad place if you are only looking for a place to sleep for a night or two. However, to call it a 4 star is a real stretch.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Novotel. The room was spacious, the staff was friendly, and overall we had great experience, especially for the price. One down side is the location. It is not near many restaurants or the places visitors like to go (the Plaka, museums, parks, etc.). The neighborhood is older, although not at all unsafe. The walk to the underground took about 15 minutes--not bad in good weather. We were disappointed that the pool was not open when we arrived (early October).

Very nice hotel. Nice modern design along with very clean spaces, helpful and cordial staff. It is helpful to book a room that has breakfast included. It is close to the Metro which is a wonderful way of transportation. The main downside to this hotel is its location, not a restaurant around that has English menus and so forth. Not really a good area to go out for a walk at night.

Very comfortable room w/ friendly service. Only complaint was that the reception could not recommend a good restaurant.

the hotel is cheap and simple, with a small rooftop pool. staff are pleasant and just do their job, neither good nor bad. i wouldnt say 4-star as it is not that great of an area and no-one will help with your bags. but they do call taxis and are generally good at the simple things which i associate to a 3-star hotel...

The staff was extremely helpful with directions and helping us with bag storage. I would definitely recommend the hotel, especially for short stays.

Approx 10 min walk from train and Metro station, which is not good access. However, very beautifully renovated and very confortable! Hotel Staff were very kind !

The hotel was definitely decent ... it was clean and the decor was nice. The bathroom shower was excellent and you will have flat screen TV and internet access in your room. However,the AC was blowing air slower than a fan. You will have to leave the AC on at all times in order to keep the room comfortable never mind cool. The people were cordial but far from friendly if you are American. The hotel is far from the Plaka district so you will need to take a taxi to get there. Do your homework before making a decision.

Close to Tram. Newly renovated, great pool and bar. Room was good size especially for Greece. Very convenient and easy. Staff was very helpfull

Generally speaking, the hotel is good and is further being improved, you can see works in progress in some areas. It is conveniently located 10 minutes-walk away from a metro station that takes you to the mayor city attractions in minutes. However, the neighboroud where the hotel is located is not pretty at all, but I undersantand that Athens is like that. Menus in both restaurants are just OK, not much variety but the food is good. Rooms are OK and spacious enough for a family of four (2 adults + 2 small kids)wich is not common in Europe, you will not have an unpleasant suprise but you will not be amazed either.

The street outside the hotel was under construction as was the lobby so navigating was a little difficult. The registration lobby moved between the day I checked in and the day I checked out. I do think once the construction is completed, the hotel will be most pleasant. The room was recently refurbished and had a wonderful shower to wash off exploration dust. There were no computers for use in the lobby as expected, though they did offer their business computer for checking email.

This hotel had very nice rooms and the bed was extrememly comfortable. I was very disappointed to be there when there was contruction going on and I could hear everything in our room. When we checked in our original room had a broken airconditioner. Tey did send up maintenance immediately (Nice and friendly as well). The otel was not able to repair so they gave us another room. They did not offer assistance to move us and it was difficult to do so. (the elevators are very small). The otel was a little over priced and did not have a complimentary breakfast.

The pool was a big disappointment. There was really no reason for it not to be in good shape and running by April 1st. Instead closed and ugly green water. Rooms nice but construction noise starts early. The rooms were really stuffy, but they don't turn on air conditioning until "Summer", so trying to sleep with window open is very noisy. Bring ear plugs. Area not that bad, close walking to everything. Not the nicest buildings around it but this is Athens!

Relativt sentralt beliggende-det tok 20-30 minutter å spasere til Acropolis og Plaka-området. Greit hotell -rent på rommene - og god service. Hotellet har en fantastisk flott takterrasse ,med svømmebasseng, der du kan sitte om kvelden og ha utsikt utover Acropolis og hele byen. Føler du sitter på Athens "tak"-godt etter å ha spasert rundti en ellers litt "skitten" by. Terrrassen var verdt hele hotelloppholdet.

The location wasn't wonderful, but the metro makes it quick and easy to get around the city. The rooftop pool makes a great escape during the hottest part of the day with views over the city to the Parthenon. Just beware - they regularly run out of towels. The rooms were clean and nicely appointed. But several guests had problems with the safe in their rooms not working.

Ero già stato in questo albergo 11 anni fa. Devo dire che in questi anni è migliorato molto sia perchè è stato ristrutturato (specialmente i bagni sono eccellenti con doccia a cascata straordinaria) ma anche per il fatto che essendo comunque in centro, ma in una zona tranquillissima, si trova ora a cinque minuti a piedi dalla stazione ferroviaria dove si trova una fermata del metrò che è modernissimo e comodissimo. La colazione, che conviene prenotare assieme alla camera, è molto abbondante alla francese. Inoltre se avete bambini, vi sono offerte a prezzi molto vantaggiosi. Vi è anche una piscina al settimo piano. Rapporto qualità/prezzo eccellente!

La chambre est confortable et agreable.La qualité du service est bonne mis a part que le personnel ne parlait pas francais.

Flot og moderne hotel der helt levede op til forventningerne. Beliggenheden lidt kedelig, men dog kun ti minutter fra moderne metrostation. God service, fine faciliteter fx fitness, pool og bar på taget. Lækre værelser. Helt sikkert et sted vi godt vil tilbage til.

VI havde et par gode dage på Novotel efter en gang Ø hop - Naxos - Paros - Mykonos - Paros - Milos. Dejligt at afslutte ferien med et godt hotel.

Selve hotellet er ok, fin betjening, rent og ordentligt. Hyggelig pool på toppen. Men hotellet ligger i et slumkvarter fuld af narkomaner, ludere og indvandrere. Jeg vil ikke anbefale dette hotel til børnefamilier eller andre med sarte sjæle.

Arrivando dalla metropolitana (fermata Victoria) si impiegano 10 min. a piedi. Il quartiere non è per nulla pittoresco. Vicino all'albergo vi è un ristorante aperto 24 h su 24. L'albergo ha camere moderne, molto bello il bagno! L'insonorizzazione è buona, ma si sente il rumore dell'aria condizionata dei corridoi dell'edificio. Poche stazioni di metro e si arriva all'Acropoli, di fronte al nuovo museo.

Novotel Athens is a clean and modern looking hotel with quite large rooms and good beds. Once inside the hotel you feel good, but the surroundings is typically bad-Athens! And it is NOT that near to Omonia metro-station! Breakfast to 15€ is quite expencive!

Moderne, rent og flott hotell. Veldig hyggelig betjening. En enkel restaurant med god internasjonal mat og en restaurant med flott gourmet-mat. God continental-frokost. Fantastisk takterrasse: basseng og solbading på dagen, en drink og/eller fin middag med utsikt over hele Athen, blant annet et opplyst Acropolis, på kvelden. Et supert hotell, men ligger i usentralt strøk. Taxi er billig og tar deg dit du vil. Ikke lang å gå til Metro'en heller. Vi var veldig fornøyd!

Har inget att klaga på, hotellet var mycket trevligt, trevlig inredning och rent och snyggt överallt. Personalen är helt otrolig, trevlig och mycket hjälpsam. Frukosten är helt suverän, det fanns allt utom bubbel. Det ligger inte helt bra, lite skumt kändes det att gå till t.ex metro, skulle inte vågat gå själv utanför hotellet.

Hotel liegt nah am Zentrum und kann ut als Ausgangspunkt für weiteres genutzt werden. Das Frühtsücksbuffet ist gut ist am Wochenende aber nur bis 10:30 verfügbar. Zimmer sind klasse und gut ausgestattet.

malgré une chambre un peu petite, la qualité du personnel et le petit déjeuner parfait (gratuit pour les enfants) en font une adresse parfaite pour une famille.

ce que je n'ai pas apprécié dans la qualité du décor des chambres,c'est la qualité de confection déplorable des parmentages de sommiers et des coussin de décoration dans une matiére trés bas de gamme-au vue du design de l'ensemble de l'hotel c'est trés dommage de dévaloriser la déco textile avec du bas de gamme en tissus.Les chales de lit sur les photos de présentation n'existaient pas dans les chambres.

L'hotêl est vraiment bien et confortable avec une piscine sur le toit très appréciable, la décoration intérieure est très réussie avec un beau design. Bon accueil. Toutefois, le quartier où il est situé n'est pas très propre et accueillant.

Chambres acceuillantes, Amenagements et decoration de l'hotel agréables et chaleureux, certaines chambrent pouvent recevoir des enfants très appréciable..

wir waren positiv überrascht und sehr begeistert von dem hotel. wir haben dieses hotel trotz schlechter bewertung aus dem internet gewählt wegen der guten lage und dem preis. zimmer und lobby sind frisch renoviert, sehr sauber und das personal ist sehr freundlich. jederzeit wieder!
