St Gotthard Hotel - Ζυρίχη

The hotel is an old one, there's no question about it. There are some nods to the 21st (20th?) century, such as the flat screen televisions and Ethernet connections, though they too are not without their problems -- the TV's are finnicky, and the Internet is CHF 30 per day, which seems outrageous even for Zurich. I also found the bed to be quite uncomfortable, and trying to work at the desk was difficult, as the desk is too tall or the chair is too short. On the flip side, the hotel is situated in an excellent location at the beginning of the Bahnhofstrasse, steps from the main train station. We paid a rate that was relatively modest (relatively being the key word -- welcome to Zurich!), and if I were to stay at this hotel again it would be solely for the location/cost combination. Central Zurich is relatively small, however, and the next time I visit, I would probably try a different hotel. I should also add that the staff was very professional.

Not as "upscale" as I'd usually expect from a four star hotel, but other factors more than made up for it. The hotel was clean/safe, the business center (computers, printer) was free, and the staff was helpful. Best of all, you can't beat the location...just steps from the train station.

Hotel is in a good location, close to the mainline train station. This is a very old hotel (120 years old) and is outdated. The day was 28C& air conditioning was not working in our room. We informed the front desk, immediately we were provided with the ventilator (or table fan) !!! One more request, we managed move to a different room @11 pm,. this time air conditioner is working but largely ineffective. I personally NEVER stay on this hotel again.

central, convenient and cosy hotel, with helpful staff. Can't comment on the food as i did not eart there. Great base for a weekend in zurich.

Although this hotel has an extremely convenient location near the main railway station, the hotel did not at all live up to my expectations considering the extremely high rates. We had a non-smoking room yet the room was smokey smelling and came with an ashtray. There were no extra amenities to justify the high rates. My advice, if you are looking for a hotel convenient to the rail station, walk a little further and find a better deal and better hotel. The city is very walkable and there is nothing special about this hotel. Beware of the housekeeping staff giving you 5 seconds to respond to their knock on the door before entering your room (no deadbolts).

tha was a lovely hotel in the middle of the city but the decoration was very old.if they change inside of the hotel it can be really perfect.the hotel was five minutes to the railway station by walking that was excellent too.

Location is 30 seconds walk from train station in the zurich's most fancy shopping street. The hotel is kind of oldish but very well maintained and does not give the aseptic sensation of newer hotels, while the cleanliness is still irreproachable. I recommend.
