Hotel Le Cloitre St Louis - Αβινιόν

This hotel is beautiful, has a great restaurant, is right in the centre of Avignon but easily accessible by car and has friendly staff. The only thing that let it down was that there wasn't any airconditioning... and in the 40 degree C heat of August, that just didnt cut it.

As the Reverend replied, "there were good bits and bad bits." The good bits were that it's in a quiet location, near the station, but within the walls and very close to the electric bus stop ( 50c per ride, a bargain to get around) it's spacious with cloisters, there's a pool, the room was large, comfortable, a quirky converted attic with a staircase within your own room down to the ensuite below (though not great for anyone needing to er... "get up in the night") The bad bits ~ big problems with the plumbing, pricey car parking, very expensive breakfast, limited staff on duty to sort out problems. I don't think I'd go back there!!

was nice and we left window open, but mosquitos came in (explains the bug spray we found in the closet) and the air conditioner didn't work.

Friendly staff; very clean; updated amenities; less than a 10-minute walk from the opera house and city center; modern and stylish. I recommend this hotel with no reservations (no pun intended).

Great location and atmosphere, very clean. The desk clerks could be more forth coming with check in info, missed Christmas eve dinner because staff did not tell us of it. You would often come in in the evening or leave in the AM desk clerks would not look up with a greeting..you would have to speak first, maybe they were shy. All in all a great hotel!

We enjoyed learning the interesting history of the hotel building and were pleased with its location near the center of old Avignon.

Our room was a double on the fourth floor. The entry was at least a foot lower than the rest of the room. The toilet was here at the lower level next to the entrance. The shower was on the other side of the room with a sink and a too low mirror. The hand held shower nozzle had no place to attach it, so you had to lay it down in the tub when you were finished. There was no shower curtain, so you could spray the whole room if you were not careful. There were no windows in the room, only two sky lights that gave you only views of the roof.

Loved it. 5-10 minute walk from Gare Avignon AND the Shuttle to TGV. Great location Very Cool atmosphere. Very reasonably priced. Staff was not the most helpful

I loved this hotel. I stayed in the traditional part of the hotel which is apparently the best, but it all looked lovely to me. The rooms were immaculate and the staff were very friendly. I'm already looking at staying again soon. I think the best things about the hotel are it's character, location and facilities.

Nice room (tries to be trendy-spartan look); friendly staff. Pool had limited hours. Restaurant was good.

You can walk to any attractions from the hotel. It is very convenient to the train and bus station. The restaurant is very good and rates on the "10 Best List." The hotel staff were polite and helpful.

Hotel staff was great... Wonderful dinner meal... Room in the "new" section are not very quiet.

The resturant was very good. Bathroom was very nice with the tub. You might want to chose a room away from the side street where the traffic goes by. The trash trucks in the morning will issue an early wake up call. The location of the hotel is extremely convenient to walking around Avignon.

Located very close to the bus station and the regular SCNF (slow speed) rail transport station. The TGV (high speed rail) station is 5 miles away but a cheap shuttle bus drops you off within 2 blocks of the hotel. The hotel is within reasonable walking distance of all areas within the Avignon Old City walls. Close to restaurants and a supermarket. That is good because the hotel restaurant is "very" pricey. The new section of the hotel has nice balconies with table & chairs. There is free wireless internet and one computer for public use. They do charge for local phone calls. It is about a 10 block walk to the Palace of the Popes down the main sreet.

The hotel is a lovely surprise down a small backstreet but 5 minutes from the station and also the main square. The building has been beautifully restored and the old rooms are large and comfortable. The staff are a little unfriendly and unhelpful but the ambience of the cloisters and the comfort of the room more than made up for this. A wonderful stay in a beautiful town.

The hotel was excellent, centrally located, clean and spacious. The aesthetic setting of the hotel was probably unbeatable in the city, given that it is in a cloister. The only complaints are that the bathroom had no door and the tub's shower spray was a bit annoying. The breakfast was also expensive for what it was. Other than that, great service and great stay.

Cadre, accueil, service, equipements, restaurant parfaits

Very difficult to find at night, but well situated for a weekend. The rooms in the modern part were small, and diners on the terrace have a great view intothem even with shutters closed. Restaurant and staff excellent, but definitely not a 4 star hotel.

Si la situation de l'hôtel est idéale et son look général très soigné, quelques remarques concernant la chambre sont à faire. La chambre de belle proportion est à priori agréable mais l'ameublement, la literie, la décoration sont à refaire complêtement. Pas de grand lit confortable, mais deux lit de 80 collés l'un contre l'autre... un canapé franchement peu utilisable et très mal fichu, une clim assez bruyante de type grand mistral... une déco inexistante. L'ensemble est assez froid. Les finitions sont quant à elles totalement à revoir. On notera l'absence de douche indépendante... dommage.

Dette ombygde klosteret vil vi gjerne tilbake til - ikke mer å si om det! Annerledes, i positiv forstand, enn de fleste andre hotell.

Très bien placé (période du Festival). Beaucoup de charme. Accueil et services prévenants.

Hotel retravaillé au niveau de l'architecture, tres singulier A deux pas du centre ville

Un cadre plein de charme, une chambre etonante qui nous a mis sous le charme ma femme et moi meme, et l'impression formidable d'avoir ete les seuls clients de l'hotel ... seuls au monde. Si nous devons retourner a Avignon, ce sera sans nul doute au Cloitre St Louis.

L'ambiance du cloître est magique et la chapelle est splendide. Le restaurant dans la galerie est très intime et délicieux. Bémol : quand il pleut les clients (mal élevés n'hésitent pas à traverser le restaurant avec leur valise, ça casse le charme. Manque aussi Canal+ dans un hôtel de ce standing.

Trés bon hotel idéalement situé

Le cadre est joli. l'emplacement dans la ville est bon. Le personnel est professionnel et compétent.

Un cadre somptueux , le calme , la situation centrale , tout serait parfait si les finitions des chambres étaient un peu mieux soignées. Réveil dès le levé du jour car absence de rideaux, seuls des volets blancs( laissant entrer la lumière, et en parti cassés ) sont installés.dommage car avec ce calme environnant, il m' aurait été agréable de dormir un peu plus longtemps...Pas de repos possible .

l'hôtel n'était pas chauffé. La chambre était sale, baignoire douteuse avec plein de petits points noirs. Le chauffage de la chambre ne fonctionnait pas. J'ai eu très froid pendant mes deux nuits. La vue du restaurant sur les arcades du parc recouvert de tas de fuilles mortes pas ramassées en tas devant l'hôtel. Très longue attente entre chaque plat pour déjeuner. Prix restauration prohibitifs. J'a dû faire retourner en cuisine un pot au feu qui avait une odeur nauséabonde. Personnel froid et non accueillant.

Sous des apparences prétentieuses, un bel endroit en plein cenre ville. Petit bemol: la chambre coté cour (parking) avait les fenetres au-dessus les poubelles et s'était assez bruyant le matin. Fuites d'eau dans la salle de bain.

personnel bruyant pour un dimanche matin passage de l'aspirateur dans les couloirs a 9H du matin chambre avec douche de qualité soviétique tout est désuet au niveau déco à fuir...

Un hôtel très beau et surtout très calme alors qu'il se trouve à peine à 5 minutes du centre ville et du centre historique.Très appréciable le parking !
