Grand Hotel Des Iles Borromees - Στρέζα

My husband and I chose the Grand Hotel because of the reviews and we knew from these that it would be something special. We were not disappointed with the wonderful decor, artefacts and furnishings of the hotel which are probably the most sumptious I shall ever encounter. Our room was very nicely equipped. It did not have a lake view but as it was a special rate I did not expect one of the front rooms. The weather for the week was due to be hot and it was disappointing to learn that the swimming pools had been closed mid September. However much more annoying was the information that the air conditioning had been turned off in the entire hotel as they deemed it unnecessary! This meant we had to open the windows or it was stifling and had to endure all night the loud sound of a large fan which blasted forth continually at the back of the hotel in addition to the trains charging through a not too distant station. Ear plugs were needed to get a good nights sleep! The buffet breakfast was excellent with a very wide choice and friendly service. We did not eat in the restaurant in the evening as it was pricey 46€ for 3 couses which did not sound very interesting. Speaking to another English couple on our last morning who had eaten there the previous evening and were very uncomplimentary I think we had made the best decision to eat in town. (La Botte restaurant in town was excellent.) Nonetheless I am glad we stayed at Les Iles Borromees because it was a very special experience.

I booked a garden view room as it was cheaper. When we arrived we were told we had a lake view room. We were shown to the room, which not only had a fabulous lake view but also a large terrace with table, chairs and loungers. It was absolute luxury. Breakfast was very good, with everything you could want, bread, croissants, fresh fruit, cakes, cheese, cold meats, smoked salmon and some cooked food. Hotel was a short walk to shops, restaurants and boat trips.

Hotel was as described - pure luxury. View of lake from our room was fantastic. Every corridor has a different theme and is stunning. The gardens are lovely too.

Fabulous lake side Palace with fantastic service very friendly to my eleven year old son High saff to customer ratio Rooms can be smaller than you would expect unless you pay more Great continental breakfast with fresh everything Concierge very knowledgeable and helpful The Manager was spot on when I had a query which he dealt with perfectly which I believe is where hotels either shine or die on how well they are prepared to deal with issues Do not discount the skiing from Montarone easy reds with views to die for with the Italian Lake District on one side and the Piedmont Mountains on the other I think Enjoy a day Island Hopping on the great value small ferries and stop somewhere for a good lunch or another great coffee The islands have limited opening from end of October to Easter gardens and buildings are shut Very much a summer resort but this makes it a good out of season experience

Wow, this hotel is stuffy! I travel quite a bit and have stayed in some of the finest hotels in the world. The thing that makes these hotels outstanding is that the management recognizes that for the money you're spending the service should be unsurpassed. This hotel's staff continuously made my son and I feel as though they were doing us a favor by providing service. From the front desk to restaurant wait staff the attitude was palpable. Not ok. There were members of the concierge staff that we felt provided outstanding (and most importantly, friendly) service. Otherwise it seemed like a waste of money to be in an elegant building and surrounded by staff that seemed to resent you. And, in a smaller aside, the blow dryer in the room was the same as a hand dryer in the restroom of a local restaurant.

PER UN ALBERGO STORICO DI UNA BELLEZZA CLASSICA ED INTRAMONTABILE , L'UNICA COSA CHE DIFETTAVA UN PO' ERA UN CAPPUCCINO VERAMENTE SCADENTE.... PAZIENZA ... TUTTO IL RESTO ERA VERAMENTE MERAVIGLIOSO.

Zeer goede en adequate bediening. Allles gaf je gevoel echt gast te zijn. De inrichting is zeer indrukwekkend

Hotel parfaitement situé, embarcadére et commerces à pied. Accueil excellent, prise en charge immédiate aprés erreur de catégorie de chambre Chambre vue lac superbe et bien équipée Petit dej somptueux sur la terrasse face au lac piscine grande et bien exposée+ plongeoir séparé Restaurant beaucoup trop cher (menu unique 72€ + vins)

Tout est irréprochable. Personnel accueillant, en permanence "aux petits soins". Architecture extérieure et surtout intérieure superbe. Parc magnifique. Petits déjeuners d'anthologie. Situation exceptionnelle au calme tout en étant à 5 minutes à pied de l'embarcadère pour les iles. Compte tenu des offres, rapport qualité-prix "explosé". "Outstanding" !

Je connaissais l'hotel mais n'y avait jamais séjourné, c'est vraiment un très bel établissement à recommander sans hésitation

L'hôtel affiche 5 étoiles Luxe. Comment est-ce possible ? Le service n'est pas du tout à la hauteur (on ne nous a même pas dit au revoir !); nombreuses installations sont vieillottes (notamment les salles de bain, les piscines); les groupes sont privilégiés par rapport aux particuliers qui payent pourtant le prix fort. Bref, c'est un hôtel qui vit sur ses acquis et qui mériterait une vraie reprise en main.

Een mooi hotel met een prima ligging. Vriendelijke mensen. Alleen jammer van de te harde matrassen, waardoor het slaapcomfort tegenviel.

Hotel di grande fascino, con eccesso di arredi barocchi in alcuni punti. Vista superba sul lago anche se i serramenti lasciano passare un po' di rumore. Personale cortese ed efficiente come si addice alla classe dell'hotel.
