Stay was very comfortable, however i don't think paying guest should be charged for using onsite parking.

Looks impressive in the entrance, but standard rooms a total let down. Rooms not ready at 2pm, complimentary tea while we waited. then disturbed next morning three times to clean the room all before 10am

All was fine, but I do object to paying for car parking.

good comfortable hotel, would stay there again. Had to pay £8 for parking overnight, if you stay at the Southgate hotel parking is free.

Very hot room. Condensation on windows. Very noisy from near night revelings. Couldn't wait to get out and we did by 6.45 am

The hotel was over priced for the room i had as it was at The front of the hotel overlooking the entrance, the room was clean and tidy but very basic, could not open the window more than 6" and as it was very hot and sticky and the fan supplied was noise so I could not use it. Also the bed cover was very heavy for the summer and there did seem to be a light cover. The bathroom on the other hand was very poor with broken toilet roll hold and toilet seat, very slow to get hot water and you could not run a bath or shower and the basin together as the pressure was very poor. Basin was very high uncomfortable to use. I stay in Exeter a lot and this hotel is not worth the star rating and cost. Surcharge on car parking and breakfast also over priced

The lobby and public areas are beautifully decorated. The rooms are clean just require a little modernisation. Fantastic location for city centre. Highly recommended.

Although me and my partner live in Torquay we thought we'd make a weekend of it in Exeter. The hotel was in a brilliant location to explore the city (no taxi's req). The hotel did not disappoint, our first impressions matched those to viewing the pictures on the web. Down to earth and very friendly staff definetely made the stay worthwhile, well recommended!!

Very nice hotel. The room was comfortable and clean. Right across the street from the train station. The hotel was quiet and had recently been refurbished.

Have stayed at this hotel twice now, as it is so central. The hotel is everything you would expect from a reputable hotel chain-really friendly staff and good facilities. The car park is a real bonus, as you are literally able to park next door to all of the action.

Very enjoyable stay, food excellent, room comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful.

If you're in Exeter, the Thistle is a great choice. Nice room, great breakfast, helpful staff. Couldn't ask for anything more, except for the conclusion of the construction prohject that required us to enter by a circuitous route.

We had booked to stay at this hotel for the weekend prior to travelling further into Devon. I telephoned the hotel in advance to request a quiet room, away from any functions. We arrived at 4.00 p.m. to find the hotel encased in polythene. We found that the room allocated had not been prepared following the departure of the previous guest. I went back to reception and was given an alternative room. That room also had dirty bed sheets and the remnants of the previous guest. This time my husband and I went down to reception and spoke to the duty manager who accompanied us back to the room and agreed that we could not accept the room. He found us another room and offered us a bottle of champagne, which he went to collect. On his return we pointed out that the room, was only set up for one guest (one cup, one glass etc.). He promised to deal with it. At 8.00 p.m. we had to remind the hotel reception that we needed the items to make the room suitable for two. Again it was the duty manager that dealt with it. There were two wedding receptions at the hotel that day, which carried on into the night. We were at the front of the hotel with all the road noise and the smoking guests congregating under our room. It was not what we expected. What a shame, it is a lovely, elegant hotel. At breakfast, on both mornings of our stay we found that the hot breakfast options were empty and we and other guests had to wait around for fresh supplies to be brought.

Was extremely unimpressed with this hotel. To begin with you cannot book parking with them and stand no chance of getting parking as they have so few spaces; furthermore the local parking is extremely expensive. We had recieved no warning that there was renovations going on either; the whole front of the hotel was covered in plastic! The first room we were given was clearly a single room with a single bed; we managed to change to a small room with a double bed. However due to the plastic coating on the hotel we had barely any natural light! Getting woken up by workmen walking past our 2nd room floor window at 9am wasn't nice either!!! All in all it was a terrible stay with unacceptable problems......and I haven't even mentioned the worst thing yet! We were woken at 2330hrs by the fire alarm and had to evacuate the building. Frustrating but surely acceptable as these things can happen? At the time I was actually impressed by how smoothly it went and how organised the staff were. However, the next day we were informed by 2 seperate shops over the road that this is a regular occurence and happens 2-3 times a month!!!! Not so reasonable now! No wonder the staff were so well organised. We barely slept and would not reccomend this hotel to anybody; indeed we have already warned all our friends! Worst hotel experience ever.

The room is very good in its price, hope to back soon with this price again.

Great lifts, great breakfast, nice staff. No car parking at all due to external works to hotel. Railway car park quite convenient and £7.50 for 24 hours. Took 1 hour to get new batteries for remote otherwise a nice stay.

Great location for the university and Primark. Staff very helpful - we were able to leave our bags after check out while we had a tour of the uni. We would use the hotel again.

This hotel was fab the night porter was extremly helpful especially when come back late at night and you would want a drink! day time staff where plesent and the rooms where always nicely done after a day out in Exter I would recomend this hotle to anyone wanting to stay in as it is fab and very reasonably priced for a four star!

The hotel is generally fine inside but currently there is external building work which makes the rooms dark and claustophobic. Noise from a wedding reception one night was a problem until VERY late. The hotel should have mentioned this as well as building operations. and lack of parking. Once it is all finished it will be a good central Exeter hotel.Eventually air conditioning will be necessary as road noisy to have windows open at night,should we ever have any hot weather!

WE WERE TOO TIRED TO TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF THE HOTEL SERVICES AND HAD TO USE ROOM SERVICE WHICH WAS EXCELLENT. DISSAPOINTED WE COULD NOT HAVE STAYED LONGER - THIS WAS DUE TO ATTENDING A WEDDING.

It is such as shame that this classic old hotel has allowed its standards to start to fall. The bedrooms are old and tired and the hotel lacks any of the modern facilities that one had come to expect such as a gym, modern TV and free internet access.

All the staff were very helpful and attentive. A request for sheets and blankets to replace the douvet was dealt with with no fuss or question and likewise difficulty with the TV. Our stay was made better still with an excellent breakfast with good variety to suit all tastes. Several points that limited the hotels' excellence was the carpark was too small for the size of the hotel and the extract fan in the bathroom was not working. We would most certainly use the hotel again when in Exeter as it was good value for money, particularly being in the centre of the city.

Ideally situated close to Exeter Central Station. Small car park, however. If you don't mind nightlife going on outside when you want to sleep choose this hotel. The breakfast deal was good but the noise drove us to distraction and we got little sleep.

Great little hotel in the centre of the city, two minutes from all the action. The only thing i didnt like was the room size which was TINY.

Old historic building .Very difficult town to drive around and find this hotel . Poor instructions from the front desk .No body in town able to give instructions . Many roads end in parking grages .Good breakfast. Improved map at the front desk will be helpfull.

Ankunft: Das Hotel ist nicht zu sehen, da vollständig mit Gerüst und Christo-Plane eingehüllt. Das Zimmer liegt mit dem Fenster zur Plane, das Badezimmer wurde vor längerer Zeit offenbar als Friseursalon und Sauna benutzt, die Haare waren jedenfalls überall genauso zu finden wie diverse Spakflecken, um nicht von Schimmel zu sprechen im Badewannenbereich. Beschwerde: bitte säubern. Ergebnis: null. Konsequenz: am nächsten Tag ohne große Diskussion der nicht sonderlich interessierten Hotelangestellten ein anderes Zimmer bezogen, ohne Plane und ohne allzuviel Spakflecken im Bad. Der nächtliche Feueralarm war nicht nur für die Gäste, sondern auch für die Hotelleitung überraschend, jedenfalls herrschte fröhliches Chaos. Fazit: Das deutsche Reinheitsgebot gilt nicht nur beim Bier. Wer Wert darauf legt, ist in anderen Hotels in Exeter (vielleicht) besser aufgehoben.

Abgesehen von nur eingeschränktem Parkkapazitäten (kostenpflichtig) direkt am Hotel (ggf. kann auf öffentliche Parkplätze in umittelbarer Umgebung zurückgegriffen werden) entspricht dieses Hotel in jeglicher Hinsicht den Erwartungen an eine Unterkunft dieser Kategorie.

Goed hotel. Personeel vriendelijk en service gericht. Goede ligging. Niets op aan te merken. Goed ontbijt. Zeer verzorgd.

Ein gut geführtes Hotel mit geräumigen, schönen Zimmern. Die Eingangshalle zum Hotel nicht sehr gemütlich, es fehlt eine Empfangssitzgruppe.
