Crowne Plaza Hotel Cambridge - Cambridge

Not worth the 4*s or the associated price. Unpleasant Staff, sly charge for car parking(£15) that you only find out AFTER parking. Terrible mattress, bath that was blocked. All this on a one night stay - need I say more. If you don't mind paying 4* prices for a sub 3* unfriendly hotel then this is it!

Very unhappy with this hotel. Although we had booked a non-smoking room well in advance when we arrived they insisted that there were no non-smoking rooms left and we had no choice but to accept the smoking room offered. In the lift we were reassuring ourselves that it couldn't be that bad but we were wrong. The whole floor REEKED and the room was filled with a disgusting mix of old smoke and bleach. Also, the window had been shut permanently so as to improve the efficiency of the air conditioning!! Not very helpful. We had stayed in this hotel several times before and never had a problem so we were doubly disappointed at the tiny size of our "deluxe" room, the scruffy state of the wallpaper and the lump of concrete blocking the light from the unopenable window. Sadly, despite this hotel's ideal location we will not be returning.

Great location--close to the colleges and churches you want to visit. Every member of the staff with whom we had contact in a 3-day stay was particularly pleasant and helpful. The room had very efficient air-conditioning, much appreciated during a July hot spell. Beds comfortable, room and bathroom well-appointed (although brighter lighting in the room, and a room safe would have been good additions). Delicious breakfast buffet included hot dishes and even made-to-order omelettes on request, in addition to various fresh fruits, yogurts, baked goods, etc. Coffee brought to the table in a carafe.

In the middle of Downing Street, noxt to Sedgewick Museum and Downing College, a quiet and quite relaxed american style hotel. All comfort, all kinds of service but no feeling what so ever of the city of Cambridge or 800 years of academic history. Next to a shopping mall "Grand Arcade"it feels like a miniput reflexion on "Cesars Palace" in Las Vegas. No dancing girls however. So, if tired of english history and science and culture , its perfect. Relax in front of the tv. But perfect starting point for the University.

Hotellet lå sentralt. Kort vei til shopping og turistattraksjoner. Frokostbuffet var noe for høyt priset, det gjorde at vi valgte å gå ut og spise.

Vi som er vant med "norsk-standard", vil nok finne dette hotell i stjerneklasse 3.
