If it is hot. Don't stay here. No AC. Other than that I would stay here. Helpful staff and great location and nice rooms.

generally, a nice hotel; good service, outstanding central location but the hotel itself is kind of old and worn out... definitely not 4 stars...perhaps 2 o 3 max...

I was under the impression that I have booked an air conditioned room because thats the impression I got from the Hotel.com. Our room was non air conditioned and right above the street resataurants with night activity till two o clock at night. It was hot so we couldn't close the windows but the street noise didn't let us sleep either. The staff at reception was not helpful and did not change our room. It was a uncomfortable stay.

The hotel is located on a brick-paved road that sees mostly pedestrian traffic. There is a good Swiss restaurant next door, and both the lake and the train station are only 10 minutes away on foot. The staff is courteous, but they didn't have answers to many questions typical of tourists, such as recommendations for places to eat or where to buy specific items. The room was a little small but clean, and the breakfast was outstanding.

This hotel was in a great party location, lots of shopping, restaurants, and bars just outside the door. The train station was a very short walk as was the water front. The room was very trendy, clean, and comfortable as well. We were very impressed.

Was in room 203, Jr suite, with air conditioning. Saturday night was busy and loud in the streets outside, but quite in the room. Comfortable room, bathroom was a bit crampped for family of four, but very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was OK. Suggest visiting the grocery Coop for simple supplies. Metro stop is 2 minute walk.

Great location in old town. Great fondue restaurant right outside the front door. An easy walk from the train station - map could have been clearer, but it was a short distance.

This hotel is located in the heart of the old city and pretty much where you want to be located. Other reviews complained about noise but I had no issues at all, however in the middle of summer with no AC I guess with the windows wide open it could be an issue. The key is heavy and unusual, but the front desk will hold it for you. I had no problems with this and it seemed to work out just fine. My rate included breakfast which is a $20 value at least and with food being so expensive in Switzerland it was great to have a free meal. Unfortunately they don't have free internet, but most people will be on vacation and not need to connect to the internet so probably not an issue for most. All in all a great hotel with a perfect location.

This hotel was perfectly located, right in the heart of old town, and a 5 minute walk to Lake Zurich or to the famous shopping streets. It is well maintained, with a very up to date room. The room was a little small - didnt have a desk - but was otherwise very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included, which is, unlike what many reviews will tell you, NOT common in Europe. Just like in the states, breakfast is normally only included at the middle range to lower range hotels. Nicer hotels typically charge for it. Internet is pricey though. Overall, very pleased with the hotel, and would definitely recommend it.

Nice hotel, large room. Great breakfast buffet and nice to have it outside in the garden. I would caution anyone staying here regarding the noise at night - I live in NYC so I can deal with noice - but this was over the top. Since there are many bars, resturants and late night clubs all around the hotel the noise just gets so intense. On and on until 4-5 in the morning. Even on Sunday night. And then the trash pick up starts at 6 AM! This hotel is nice, but I'd like a calmer location in Zurich - a terrific city...

We stayed at this hotel for several days in early May and were overall very happy with the staff and service. We chose this hotel because of it's central location in the heart of Zurich and in the middle of the old town. everything was within easy walking distance, the lake, train station, restaurants, shopping etc. If there is one disappointment, it's that the room we were in had seen better days. Not that it wasn't clean but the carpet was stained, one of the outlets was broken, the end tables were chipped etc. The hotel does not hace AC (common in the EU) so you will need to open the windows during the summer. If so, you will hear street noise as the hotel is in a very popular street with several restaurants and bars. (also common for many hotels in old town). We stayed in room 401 which faces a courtyard and was very quiet.

This hotel exceeded my expectation. Big breakfast and perfect location. The only down side is the street noise being right in the heart of the Old Town.

The Wellenberg hotel is in a great location; close to stores, restaurants and a short walk to "old town." The staff were always friendly and accommidating. The room was very clean and spacious. I had a room that looked out to the square, which was fun to "people" watch each day. My brother and I enjoyed our 3 day stay and would recommend the Wellenberg Hotel as a great place to stay.

We booked four rooms for the night of Saturday March 14th. We were four single guys traveling on a ski trip and needed a hotel for the last night prior to our return flight Sunday morning. Rooms were a little small, but they were clean and were what we expected for the price. Nice hot shower. Great location for our last night in Zurich. I was concerned the hotel would be noisy due to its location, but once i closed the window it was perfectly quiet with no problems. Rooms are a little old, but OK appointed. The staff was great. I had a 5am wake up call, received the call on time and ten minutes a knock at the door and it was the night auditor delivering a cup of coffee. Since i did not order the coffee it was a great surprise. Nice touch! He also told me that since our four rooms were leaving so early he had prepared the breakfast buffet early for us and it was ready. The night auditor should be promoted to Manager! The only problem we had was that we had a rental car and when we checked in around 6pm the desk clerk wasn't sure where we could park and referred us to some garage across the river. We decided to just leave our car in the neighborhood parking lot and it was fine. We go every year on a ski trip to switzerland in March and will definately use the hotel again next year.

great location. Most important for me is the bed has to be good and the bathroom clean with good shower pressure. I slept great and had a wonderful shower. The breakfast was also great value for money. One downside was the club downstairs but if you stay on a few floors above with the windows closed this wont effect your sleep

Charming "old town" location and look but thoroughly modern comfortable inside.

Lovely little hotel tucked in the old town of Zurich. Easy walking to all parts of the city center, 2 minutes from the river. Rooms typical of this age and type of hotel - small but well furnished. Breakfast was very good quality with a good, wide choice and nice ambience. Recommended.

Quaint hotel with all the basic amenities. Clean,comfortable with a very helpful staff. As other reviews state, it can be a bit noisy in the evening because of the location and tight quarters. If you are a lite sleeper, you might want to find another location or bring strong sleeping pills. The noise is more of a busy area rather than a College Spring Break noisy. Can't beat the location.

I loved the Wellenburg. It is in the middle of the old town in a square with restaurants and shops. I may be noisy in the summer months, but when we were there (Sep 2008) it was quiet and very convenient. The room was comfy and quite large and the staff were extremely friendly. If I return to Zurich I will stay at this hotel, without a doubt!

Hotel is situated in a good place - less than 10 min to the lake and the same to the Main Railway Station. Rooms are very nice - I had a single Room which actually had a double bed, very nice Bathroom and the Breakfast was also worth getting up for. The staff was very helpful when arranging my transfer to the airport. There are enough bars and restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel.

We found this hotel to be an excellent location. Large room, comfortable beds, nice bathroom. The service was great. It was a rainy day in Zurich when we arrived and the hotel had umbrellas available for all guest - much nicer than our folding travel umbrellas. Like most things in Switzerland, its on the pricey side. Breakfast was excellent and available until 11am (Noon on weekends). My only complaint is that the lobby was so small, there was no place to enjoy the hotel. The neighborhood is a lively pedestrian area. If you drive into Zurich - be aware that you can drive up to the front of the hotel to drop off bags, if you do so slowly in the pedestrian area, but you might have to park a few blocks away.

Good hotel well situated near to the lake and restarurant but could be noisy on weekends.

Good location and staff. Right in the center of the old town. Room was ok. Zebra pattern with extremely worn and stained carpet.

This hotel is located in the old part of town and fronts a small square filled with outdoor restaurants and bars. With no air conditioning available, customers are forced to keep the windows open in the evening. Incredible noise levels emanating from the drunken hordes below kept us awake until well past 4 AM, and billowing clouds of tobacco smoke wafted through our window. I would not recommend the hotel.

Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the Zurich HB train station in the heart of Zurich's old town. Clean rooms, great rates, and friendly staff. Courtyard facing rooms are a bit noisy on Friday and Saturday nights.

The hotel is really nice and located at the center part of old town. very convinience. walking distance to Train Station. It is fun to walk on the street and around the river. Many choice of resturant within working distance. If you like city life, this is perfect for you. The room size is superisingly big.

The hotel was perfect for my travel. Great location to town center. Shower stalls instead of bathtubs. Good breakfast selection. The only thing I would change are the pictures hanging on the walls. They were enlarged photographs of people I did not know. I got tired of seeing them.

We expected more lounge space for a 4 star hotel. In fact there is no lounge!! We were very surprised to receive just a shower with no bathtub (we were NOT told there would be only a shower. I appreciated the in room coffee maker.

Short distance from the main train station, only about a 10-minute walk with luggage, no need to even hop on the trams. It was a nice surprise when they came to take away the bed covers in the early evening while we were out at dinner; we came back and found chocolates on our pillows. (I personnally hate touching the bed covers at hotels!) They have a great breakfast buffet. Wonderful staff. (BTW, we had dinner at the adjacent Italian restaurant and it was excellent!)
