Three nights in this hotel in September. The decor is perhaps a little dated but my stay was absolutely fine. I loved the walk along the river into town, but it was September - might not be as pleasant in the rain and cold of winter!

Was a quick business trip late arrival early departure but efficient check in and out and would be great to go back and enjoy for leisure

The hotel was bright, clean and staff very efficient, but had no character at all. I was cold in my room, in September, and even though a porter adjusted the radiator it made not difference. I had one dinner in the hotel, absolutely awful, the chicken in whatever it was sauce tasted like my nephew makes in his digs with pot noodles, and even the cheese was rancid. Would definitely not go there again.

The hotel itself was beautiful and within walking distance from the city centre and Oxford Station. The staff were very friendly and provided a great service, and made us feel welcome. The food was great.

Hotel looks great from the outside but once you get pass the front door, its downhill from there. Hotel rooms have no air-conditioning, so if you must come here in the height of summer, ask the reception staff for a fan. Rooms are old and in desperate need of refurblishment, It doesn't look or fill clean so its hard to relax in it.Finally the hotel seems to have been built from an old hostel, so if you are unlucky, its a pretty long walk to your hotel room. so unless its the cheapest place to stay in oxford do come here until its been properly renovated. The main saving grace, the staff are fantastic and work hard to make the best of your staff.

We stayed at the Spires Four Pillars for a long weekend to relax and get away from busy life, and it was a perfect trip. The hotel is clean, feels safe, family friendly and the food is ok too (we only had lunch there in the bar). The hotel location is PERFECT for a short stroll into town by the riverside, which was ideal for us. Oxford is a lovely place, and this hotel suited our needs perfectly! The "free minibar" was scant, however, and the bed was a bit small, but it fit two adults just fine. We didn't find any reason to complain!

We were delighted to find this hotel. Set in it's own grounds between the river Thames and Abingdon Road it has the charm of a country hotel, with a large bedroom. So much better than the over priced chains that sit next to a motorway roundabout (like those at Pear tree). Although there are plenty of buses from the near by park and ride to get you into Oxford city centre - we took the scenic route walking along the river tow path which was just a 15 minute walk to the heart of the ciyt and the colleges. Watch out for the many cyclist and joggers who also enjoy this path.

Ideally placed to visit Oxford and surrounding areas. Room lovely, but bed too hard. Noisy neighbours every night disturbed our sleep, but can't blame hotel for others not knowing how to behave! Pool lovely and warm. Walk into Oxford along river was just what we expected. No surprises with hotel. Didn't expect food at dinner to be excellent and it wasn't! Just ok but over-priced. Lounge food better value; had afternoon tea and couldn't eat it all!

we booked room only for our 4 night stay. The room was quiet and will serviced each day. It was lovely to leave the car and walk into Oxford via the river.

A really lovely hotel,only complaint was no air conditioning and the rooms were hot. Lovely ,helpful staff.

A good standard hotel, similar level to a Holiday Inn. Not too happy with the mark up on the drinks though - 400% on bottled beer. An expensive place to spend the night at the bar.

We stayed in a standard room which was a good size with a lovely view of the surrounding fields with horses. Perfectly happy with our stay.

Two things make this hotel a good choice when visiting Oxford. The first is the location. While not in the centre of the city, it is within easy walking distance, which means no struggling to park. You can also take the more scenic route and walk part of the way along the river. If walking is difficult for you I imagine its proximity would make taking a taxi inexpensive. Buses run along the road at the main gate of the hotel. The other big plus is the staff team who are helpful and pleasant without being obstrusive. Even when taking a little extra trouble they make it seem effortless. Other positives include the pool and leisure facilities and being able to sit outside (weather permitting) to enjoy a drink. The room price is good for Oxford. The only criticisms I could make are the cost of breakfast - we didn't have breakfast in the hotel as we thought it far too expensive - and the cost of internet access. I would have hoped for free wifi access in the rooms.. Overall this is a good standard 'corporate' hotel. If you want 'picturesque' or 'boutique' and can pay those prices fine - otherwise this hotel is a good choice and I would recommend it.

very friendly and helpful staff. location is great being close enough to Oxford centre to walk into. Very clean, good food and lovely comfortable room. relaxing and clean pool and spa

We had the most peaceful and relaxing weekend at this hotel. Our room looked out over beautiful countryside. We walked into town along the river - it takes about 10-15mins. (The back of the hotel is practically on the river). The location is so convenient to the city that we didn't need to book taxis or get buses we walked everywhere. If you need a break and a quiet couple of days - this is the ideal hotel.

quiet, good service, short walk into town,

A lovely hotel only 15 minutes walk from Oxford town centre. Room clean and airy. All the extras including kettle, trouser press, ironing board, toiletries etc. Room nos. a little confusing. Staff friendly. Beautiful location.

Very lovely hotel with everything one could want and quite reasonably priced. Also just a short walk to the river and a lovely stroll to Oxford center. Loved it!

I was reluctant about staying at this place because it was outside of Oxford and used for conferences. I was pleasantly surprised that the distance outside Oxford is only a couple of minutes walk along the river which in nice weather is quite lovely. The hotel itself was very clean and comfortable and it didn't have a large chain/conference hotel feel. I would definately recommend this place if you're after somewhere to relax and enjoy Oxford at your own pace. (I did not eat at the hotel- the Head of the River pub is only 5 mintues walk away- and I did not use the gym or sauna facilities)

Attractive setting in fields only 4 minute drive / bus ride from the centre of Oxford. Enjoyed my stay, rm 231 had great view across fields, saw horses, ducks, fawns and moorhens in the late afternoon.

Hôtel très bien entretenu, service parfait. Petit déjeuner copieux à l'anglaise. Piscine et spa inclus.

Un peu excentré, mais très bien desservi par le bus, au calme, dans la verdure, juste à côté de la Tamise. Une superbe piscine, des chambres d'un très grand comfort, de la nourriture délicieuse au bar et un personnel un peu réservé, mais diligent, gentil et compétent.

Ik verbleef een week in het hotel en het is me prima bevallen. De kamer was netjes, behoorlijk ruim en goed ingericht: een zithoekje, nette, ruime badkamer en een goed liggend bed. De omgeving is rustig, ik keek uit over weilanden en een slootje. Ik had de achterste kamer op de eerste verdieping, dus was het wel elke keer een eindje lopen naar de kamer. Bij de receptie helpen ze je goed als je informatie wilt of een probleem hebt, erg klantvriendelijk. Ik heb 1 avond in het restaurant gegeten. Het eten was erg lekker en de bediening vriendelijk. Er was wel een wachttijd voor je een tafel kreeg, terwijl er nog veel tafels leeg waren. Het hotel ligt buiten het centrum van Oxford, maar het is goed te lopen en er gaan bussen vlakbij. De kamersleutels hebben een enorme hanger en moet je altijd inleveren als je het hotel verlaat. Je moet dus altijd naar de receptie om je sleutel op te halen en soms sta je dan in de rij achter mensen die willen inchecken en duurt het even.
