Nice Hotel with a perfect athmosphere and good service. Bathroom and spa-area could have been cleaner...

The hotel is beautiful and the grounds were stunning, but that was the extent of it's charm. The check in and out process took forever thanks to huge queues and the shocking £20 pre authorisation (in case guests leave without settling their bar bill). The rooms were filthy and we had to clean them before beginning our stay. The bed was too soft for me, but then some people do like a soft bed. The bar was poorly stocked, the glasses were filthy. Mine was encrusted with a lump of something yucky and they just poured the contents of my drink into a fresh glass! Shocking. There are not any bar snacks, such as crisps or nuts,after 10 p.m. you cannot order any bar food such as chips, but you can order expensive sandwiches costing over £5! Ridiculous. The breakfast buffet was good though. The pool is beautiful, the jacuzzi doesn't work properly, but the whole spa area is gorgeous and they use lovely Espa products. I'd stay at the Macdonald Hotel instead or Southampton Park which is about half an hour drive away.

Nice quiet hotel in pleasant surroundings, including a lake. Ideal for a weekend break or stop over en route for a cruise. Breakfast was very good, not a buffet for hot food, but cooked to order. Staff very helpful and friendly. Only fault we found was although the spa was excellent with the pool,sauna and steam room all seeming fairly new, the cleanliness of the showers and changing rooms left a lot to be desired. On the whole a worthwhile hotel

Just a couple of nights break at Botley Grange. Good check in arrangements. Helpful staff. Dinning room a bit slow but we enjoyed the foo. excellent spa facilities. We spotted the brochure of Festive Events which we hope to get to.

We chose Botleigh Grange for a two night break due to its proximity to Southampton. Having narrowed it down to two choices Botleigh Grange won because of the facilities. Firstly, there is far more space than most hotels, so you get the use of a large garden, bar lounge, second lounge and garden; secondly because of the spa area which feels quite luxurious. We had a couple of niggles about our room but these were dealt with once they were pointed out. We only ate breakfast at the hotel but this was comparable with everywhere else we've stayed. The staff did everything they could to make our stay special including hunting out board games for us to play in the evening. Areas of the hotel are a little tired, it has an air of faded glamour, but it has far more character than a newer building and more than makes up for it in other ways. This was a second visit and will certainly not be the last.

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel on lovely grounds. The rooms are comfortable with nice baths. My only complaint is that with no air conditioning our room (in July) was very warm. The window would only open to a small extent. The staff were able to secure a fan for us, which provided much needed relief. All in all still a very pleasant stay.

I would recomend this lovely situated hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are inviting and pleasantly decorated. The overall decor is looking for an uplift and the food is limited. I would still recommend

The atmoshere at the hotel was great. It was peaceful and comfortable. The staff were young but very attentive and ready to help. The setting is great. the pool was relaxing and not busy and looked onto trees. I would definitely stay again

WE had a great stay at Botley Grange the service was excellent as was the Spa area. The bar was expensive and the breakfast on the Monday was nowhere near the standard of the weekend breakfast but overall we had a great stay.

Had looked at loads of reviews on this hotel before booking, and got exactly what I was expecting. Lovely building with obvious history, dated in parts. Room was spacious and clean, only down side no air con, very hot on our stay and needed to leave windows and curtains open all night. Food good, service pleasant and the Spa was fantastic, would go back just for the lovely quiet pool and jaccuzi.

Our stay was for 13 days so we had ample time to see how this hotel was operated. We got a great price and the hotel is located on a beautiful site in a nice neighborhood. It has a relatively new spa swimming pool complex which is very nice with great locker room and shower areas, a sauna, a steam bath and a small gym, all of which I tried and all of which were very nice. The hot tub however was only luke warm and there was no user control to adjust the temperature. This complex, while it is physically attached to the hotel, can only be accessed by walking outside the hotel past the full length windows of the dining room. We did not use any of the spa treatments so we cannot rate them. The rest of the hotel is very old and while I like old hotels, this hotel is a few years past the time it should have been redecorated. In addition routine maintenance, which is always important but even more so in an older hotel, was poor. In our room the crown molding on one side of top of the wardrobe was broken off but lying on top. Two light bulbs in two different wall sconces were blown out when we arrived and remained out for 3 days. When I finally complained they were replaced immediately. There was no toilet paper holder in the bathroom. There were screw holes in the tile where one had been but what ever happened to it, it had not been replaced. The toilet paper was placed on end on the floor next to the toilet. After the bathroom sink drained a burping sound would emanate from the drain for about five minutes. Our lumpy mattress should have been replaced at least ten years ago. When you moved in the middle of the night you could hear springs pop. The large and fairly new dining room had two totally different types of chairs. One was wooden with chipped beige paint and the other was of the metal stacking variety in bright white. Neither said luxury but they were not uncomfortable. My biggest complaint has to do with the staff in the dining room. Our deal included a full Engli

My husband and I had a lovely stay here - very friendly and helpful staff, excellent dinner in the restaurant and massages/gym/swim/jacuzzi in the spa. Beautiful grounds and baby ducklings. Some of the fittings are a little tired eg, stair carpet, but we had a beautiful room and would definitely go back.

A lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds, very nice swimming pool. Staff very attentive, would definately return to this hotel. On the down side, I ordered soup of the day, couldnt eat it and told the waiter why. It was bland and had no taste at all, he told the chef and the general manager and they both tasted it and agreed so did not charge for it. At breakfast my cooked meal was put on the table and left to go cold whilst I was still eating cereal. I had poached egg with breakfast and my plate was swimming in water from it. We had twin beds in our room and my bed was saggy in the middle, so much so that I had back ache in the morning, my husbands bed didnt look much better, but he said he had quite a good night. Would still be prepared to give it another go.

Check in was efficient, room excellent size, clean and nicely furnished and decorated, very quaint and olde worlde. Very Modern and stylish spa/leisure facilities included in the price open from 8am til 9pm during our visit. Set in lovely natural surroundings, where wildlife comes right upto the windows, watch the woodpeckers as you swim. Food good, bar pricey! All staff very helpful throughout.

We had two lots of engineers who stayed at the hotel in the same week. They all commented on how comfortable they found this hotel. The food was excellent and the leisure facilities clean and well appointed. Excellent value for money and a good choice for anyone who is away from home for some length of time.

This hotel was very nice and close to the airport. It was a very nice old hotel.

Wall paper peeling off walls, whole hotel could do with a coat of paint as it is looking tiered and dirty. Bathroom smelt damp and looked like it was held together with silicon. Offered a smoking room by internet site and found they had none when I arived. Will not stay in this hotel again. Very disapointed.

old hotel suffering a little from age. we hadseveral problems, in correct room service, room phone didn't work. considering the price per night the condition of the room and the bar are not up to scratch. staff very helpful.

Free wi fi, pool (with suana and steam room) and gym. All in all, an excellent place to stay.

Grand old hotel in extensive grounds reached from Southampton by either a fairly direct but Satnav influenced drive through the suburbs (8 miles) or a dash round the orbiting motorways. (11-12 miles or more). Good stuff: The wireless broadband is free and it's a great high strength signal. There was also a proper desk and chair separate to the other furniture. I had cause to work there one morning and it was a really good place to get things done. The room was massive verging on a suite and the bed itself stylish verging on grand - big ornateoverhead pelmet and matching scatter cushions in addition to the actual pillows. Possibly unexpected exclusions: Didn't see the pool as I had a bad cold, but I now understand it is part of the spa so not necessarily free as part of the stay (check with the hotel) The free breakfast buffet was distinctly continental. Hot food is availabe but that's not in the room price. Check extra cost when booking if that matters to you. Wonky bits: The shower head spurted water everwhere as it was long since it's prime and the breakfast room needed buckets when the glass roof leaked. All a bit regal but faded here and there. Depends on whether you are someone who just disregards that as "character" or not. Well I do - So good luck with your square little box at the Novotel. :-) Final verdict: At the price it was worth the drive

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The bar is nice but the decor in the restaurant and in the rooms is rather dated. My mattress was uneven, I think a lot of people must have slept on one side of it! The food was OK, but there was not a very good selection and some of the dishes were a little strange. The health club looks really new and the pool, steam room and sauna were really nice and stylish and very clean. It is not in a town, so you would not really want to stay there without a car.

The hotel is good. The service was poor. No information about the facilities.

the only dissappointment was the lack of information and caring on reception. the hotel is tired but ok. they did not have a clue as to how i had paid and how the two bills tallied on my leaving which left me having to scroll through visa statements to check i had been charged correctly.

Our stay for two nights was very mixed! the spa was wonderful, reception service excellent and b'fast service on the 2nd morning perfect. Unfortunately on the first morning b'fast service was a shambles, our room poorly decorated for a four star hotel, a small double bed. unable to get bathroom shower to work and the toilet leaked.

Good location and a rather comfortable room. However, the hotel seems to be run by teenagers and the service was appalling. We had to wait 45 minutes for a fried egg and tea at breakfast. The breakfast buffet was empty most of the time except for fruit juice (no glasses to drink them from though) and canned fruit. Scandalous for a 4 star hotel. We arrived at 9.30 on the first night and were told they did not serve hot food anymore but later saw that the menu states that they serve hot food until 9.45. It was difficult to get a refill on shower gel when we had run out. It was also difficult to get service at the bar at night since the whole staff seemed to take pauses at the same time.

This is a beautiful hotel, in old style with capital letters in style, with a wonderful garden with its pond. Quite and relaxing.

bel emplacement, beau parc. le silence pour dormir malgré les mariages au RdC ! décoration vraiment démodée et équipement de salle de bain désuet. le personnel est agréable quoique pas très qualifié...l'espace piscine (seul endroit moderne) est lui parfait et ouvert dès 6h30 donc, très agréable avant le boulot. hôtel à redécouvrir quand il fera beau pour profiter du magnifique parc... ah si ! il fait une chaleur à crever dans la salle du petit déj !!!
