Would definitely go back to this hotel. Clean, comfortable and friendly helpful staff. The area feels safe and it's in a perfect position for seeing the main sights/museums and right by a metro station for going further afield. Then on top of all that you get the rooftop restaurant. Having breakfast with the whole of Athens at your feet is an experience not to be missed!

We picked this hotel as it was adjacent to our conference site and central. We couldn't have been more pleased -easy access to all tourist sites and fantastic views from the roof-top terrace making breakfast and evening drinks a treat. Our hotel was the envy of many conference goers who had spent more and got less! There is road noise, take ear-plugs if you are a light sleeper, but the views compensate!

The Athens Gate Hotel is in a prime location near the Acropolis with sublime views from their rooftop garden. Staff are friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying in this hotel especially if time in Athens is limited.

The hotel’s location was excellent, and the hotel itself was great! Only complaints are that our balcony door didn’t seal 100%, sounded like it was ajar, so we had to listen to the loud street noise down below all night. Might be worth paying for a room on the Acropolis side, away from the street noise to avoid this. Other complaint is that the AC turned off when we left the room, so the room was always warm when we returned, but it saves energy, so I can’t complain too much about that. Bed could have been softer too. Otherwise it was very nice, excellent location and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast was delicious too!

We just stayed at the Athens Gate last week, and I recommend the hotel as a very good place to stay in Athens. The decor is modern, without being stark, and the colors are muted and soothing. The great things about this hotel are the views (Temple of Zeus and Acropolis), and the convenience (near Plaka). I would recommend that the hotel shampoo the carpet in the hallways, as it was visibly stained. Our room had a laminate wood-look floor and was very clean. My major complaint is about the dining facility. Breakfast is included with the room. It includes American style options like bacon, scrambled eggs, cereals, fruit, pastries, etc. The food was ok to good (buffet style), but for me, some of the best dishes (french toast, fresh cut fruits) seemed to get depleted early and often weren't replaced. I recommend that you don't bother to eat any of your other meals at the hotel restaurant. We ate dinner here one night of our stay. The service and presentation were fine, but the food just wasn't very good. We had two people in our dinner party and neither dish was good. I recommend that you eat your meal somewhere else and just visit the rooftop restaurant after dark to take pictures of the Acropolis by night, and perhaps relax with a drink while you enjoy the view. Overall, it's a very good place to stay and you'll enjoy the beautiful views and good service.

We stayed in mid-July 2009 based on a number of hotel reviews. Our room was on the second floor facing the Temple of Zeus (front of the hotel). When we first arrived, the hotel service was outstanding and accommodating. They answered every question we had about the hotel and sites. I would recommend to other travelers that if you have sleep issues (we don't), that you do not get a room facing the front of the hotel. It is situated on a very busy road that has constant traffic and a lot of noise. Also, ask that your room not be next to the elevator and stairs (both run parallel to each other). It was extremely noisy in our room until the late evening/early morning hours. Our room was very pleasant and very much a city-oriented hotel in size and arrangement. They also have a "green" feature in their rooms where your key activates all the electronics and air conditioning, so that you aren't wasteful while you're not in your room. Breakfast was substantial and the views are fabulous. Complaints are a few: first, they should offer free internet service for the price you pay for the room. Secondly, one evening, rather late, we went to the front desk to inquire about a nearby restaurant that we couldn't locate on the map. I couldn't find the street listed anywhere. When I asked the front desk clerk, a young woman, about the street, she told me to look at a map. Umm...thanks for that hint! I explained that I had done so and she said rather annoyingly, "READ the MAP, it's at F8" and then went on to avoid me. To be honest, if you aren't good at customer service, you really shouldn't be in the hotel business. Serving your paying guests is a priority and a question about directions isn't too cumbersome for a hotel agent. I really hope she is the only sour apple at an otherwise quite wonderful place.

We had made a request for a change of room, which the hotel did ASAP. The staff at this hotel was over the top compared to two other hotels we stayed at in Greece.

We have been traveling through several cities in Italy and Greece during the past few months staying in 4 star hotels within the same price range and Athens Gate has been our best choice. The hotel underwent a renovation a couple of years ago and it shows. Rooms are neatly appointed and modern. Its terrace provides terrific view of the Acropolis/Parthenon and the Temple of Zeus and its location is pretty convenient; just a few blocks away from a metro station, the new Acropolis Museum, the Plaka and the pedestrian way (Dionisiou Areopagitou) which takes you to the Acropolis. But what really made the difference was the personal attention they provided. None of the employees hesitated to go the extra mile to provide a good service. Besides, their English is impeccable so you won’t get confused when asking for directions or any other information. We were very happy and will definitely stay there again next time we go to Athens. A great value for the money.

We arrived early and they held our luggage for us. Great service and they recommended a few places to see while we waited for our room. We explored the area and found a great taverna nearby. The room had an excellent view of the Temple of Zeus and the street noise was very minimal. The room was very clean and had modern furnishings. I would stay at this hotel again.

The Athens Gate was extremely comfortable, very clean, well-appointed, conveniently located, and reasonably priced. The free breakfast alone (both in size/scope and quality) makes this hotel a good value, and the location is pretty hard to beat (overlooking the Temple of Zeus and Hadrian's Gate, and a minute's walk from the Acropolis). I recommend guests consider splurging for a room with a view; the sites from the balcony are worth it.

Hotel was in a great location. Close to Plaka, bus to airport etc. Booked a budget room which did not have a view but we were only staying overnight so this was not a problem. Amazing views from the roof top.

Attended my sons wedding and stayed at the Athens Gate. Wonderful experience. Conveniently located to shopping and sights, beautiful view of the Acropolis from rooftop restaurant, staff took care of every need, would recommend to friends.

Athen's Gate hotel was conviniently located right in the middle of all the sights, especially good for us since we only stayed in Athens for a day and had alot to see. The hotel was clean and had a good buffet breakfast.

Apart from the check-in which got delayed till 3.30 pm the rest of the stay was wonderful. Location is brilliant and so is the roof garden.

A clean, modern hotel on busy main road. National Gardens and Temple of Zeus on one side, Acropolis etc on the other, and Akropoli underground station around corner, so perfect. Felt safe walking around day and night, lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Lots of choice for breakfast, lovely rooftop restaurant and bar. Standard room at back, not big but clean and comfortable, a bit of street noise. Lighting poor in bathroom, no bath but shower very efficient. Lovely scented towels.

Walking distance to dinning places, Acropolis, Museum, Metro. Breakfast on Terrace is good and offers a great view of the Acropolis. Staff is very friendly and cordial. Hotel is located on main avenue so if your room is on this side of the building it will be noisy all night. Also had to request to have air conditioner turn on a few times, they have separate controls.

Breakfast in roof top garden with views of Acropolis and Temple of Zeus second to none! Internal rooms perfect for business trips, but get a room with a view if on your hols. Will recommend highly to friends and colleagues.

great hotel- nothing went wrong, nice rooms, friendly staff, best views from the terrace, fantastic bathroom products, amazing location- rooms have either view on acropolis or the temple of zeus/athens gate so either way is good -bit noisier on the gate but no problem) but best stay in a long long time

Good room for the money with a great location. The staff was extremely helpful in helping us find different things and providing advice and calling places. The breakfast wasn't spectacular, but it was adequate. The directions from the Metro stop were somewhat confusing (as are all Athens streets). We stayed during low season so the rates were excellent.

Very neat and clean, exceptional location and views and the restaurant view is worth the price of the room. Only negative is the elevator.

We really loved the Athen's Gate Hotel. The beds were some of the most comfortable we found in Greece, the location was excellent, close to the Metro, buses, the trolly, and to sites. The room was very clean and everything was in perfect working order. The bathroom was the largest we saw in Greece and I loved the bathtub. Breakfast was plentiful and we loved the view! The staff was always friendly, helpful, and professional. Once the new Museum opens this hotel is going to fill up fast, so book it early!

The view of the ruins from our balcony was incredible. The rooftop garden is small but the view of the Acropolis is incredible. I would not recommend eating at the hotel as there are a number of great restaurants nearby that offer a meal at a fraction of the cost. This hotel is small and boutique-like. Very modern and clean. The front desk staff was very accomodating. Perfect walking distance from the Plaka.

The second we arrived at the hotel we were offered a nice cold glass of water and a delicious turkish (or Greek?) delight which was a very nice touch! The hotel itself has a very comfortable foyer/bar which we spent a few hours prior to our departure and a great rooftop bar with amazing views. Also a great location and if I return to Athens I'd definitely stay there again.

Room was very comfortable. Location is next to the Plaka. Sliding glass door to the balcony which overlook a park with ruins of the Temple of Zeus. Delicious food served by friendly staff with great views from the roof top garden.

An outstanding feature of Athens Gate Hotel is the 360 degree view of the City from the top floor restaurant, including the Parthanon on one side and Temple of the Olympian Zeus on the other. The staff was extremely helpful, always trying to satisfy, calling taxis and offering coffee while i waited in the early morning to check-out. The room seemed large by European standards, decorated in blond IKEA-like decor. The Acropolis Metro Station is just five minutes away, Acropolis and Acropolis Museum almost as close and Plaka a few blocks away. There are not many restaurants nearby so a taxi or metro ride was almost always required for anything interesting. Breakfast at the hotel was included and an excellent hot buffet. Dinner was something else: the pricy steak was tiny, like a small breakfast steak in the U.S. The hotel is situated on a main thoroughfare to Syntagma Square so the most significant drawback is the constant traffic noise all day and throughout much of the night, though the windows seemed to insulate much of it. Request a room away from the street but you'll miss the ongoing view of the awesome Temple columns.

My husband and I loved our experience at the Athens Gate. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The buffet breakfast (open to all guests) was delicious and set up on the rooftop terrace with beautiful views of Mount Lycabettus, the Parthenon and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. The hotel was in walking distance of major attractions. An overall delight!

Athens Gate is a boutique hotel smack dab in the middle of much of what you want to see when you land in Athens. The Parthenon and Plaka are within walking distance, as is the fabulous Metro. The view rooms are of either the Parthenon or Temple of Zeus. Specify if you have a preference. The personnel there are very knowledgeable and friendly. Go for dinner or drinks to the top floor to get the great view too.

Roof cafe and restaurant views to die for. Interior decor was fabulous. Best shower I have ever been in in my entire 40 years. Our room was on the front which meant that it was really noisy with the traffic and that really is the only downside that I can think of. Very friendly attentive staff and car parking really handy as well - and they'll even park your car for you without a charge....

The hotel staff was very nice. The restaurant is small and has very few items on the menu, but the food was good. It is not a big hotel so does not have a lot of amenities but is very near many restaurants, stores, and attractions.

Title says it all! I stayed at this hotel with a friend for my birthday and we had a great time exploring the city from our centrally located hotel. The views from the room as well as the brand new roof top terrace and bar. There are still a few final touches needed....but overall, a great value and great looking/feeling hotel with friendly staff. Definitely stay there again if ever in Athens!

This is the second time I have stayed here and I highly recommend the hotel. Great location and views, clean comfortable, quiet rooms and good service. I have no complaints.

Perfect location right on the edge of Plaka, very tasteful and minimalistic decor, modern and comfortable and absolutely recommended. Beautiful roof garden with views of the Acropolis and historic temples.

Hotellet ligger midt i smørøyet med utsikt mot Akropolis og gangavstand til gamlebyen og mange av Atens kjente severdigheter. Et kjempehotell for turister. Fantastisk takterrasse. To ting trakk helhetsbilde noe ned. Mottakelsen vi fikk når vi ankom hotellet var heller dårlig. Virket som om "back-packere" ikke var det man ønsket å se i hotellets lobby. I tillegg klaget vi på at det var en stor flekk på gulvet i rommet - uten at det tilsynelatende skjedde noe som helst fra hotellets side. Den var der under hele oppholdet.

The hotel is located within short walking distance (less than 5 minutes) to the Acropolis hill and the brand new and highly interesting Acropolis museum. Across the street is the temple of Zeus. The roof top restaurant had a magnificient view over both these main attractions, and the breakfast they served was delicious. Our room was very nice and had a noiseless and well functioning A/C, which is essential in Athens in the heat of August. My wife and I can highly recommend this hotel.

Strålende hotell i hjertet av Athen med en fantastisk takterrasse og utsikt mot Akropolis og Zeus tempel. Høy servicegrad og moderne og smakfull stil. Rom inn mot bakside anbefales, de er stille og uten støy. Kort vei til metro og ekspressbuss til flyplass.

Läget på hotellet och standarden är jättebra med tanke på priset. Vi bodde i innerrum (budgetalternativ) och hade därmed inte heller någon utsikt att tala om genom fönstret utom en liten flik av bergen omkring, men det var helt OK eftersom vi inte tilllbringade tiden med att sitta på rummet och titta ut. Personalen var mycket serviceminded och inget verkade vara något problem att fixa. Frukosten och lokalen för denna (takvåningen) var till största belåtenhet och personalen där mycket trevlig och omtänksam. Rekommenderas verkligen och vi kommer själva försöka bo där nästa gång vi kommer till Aten.

Meget, meget flot service fra hele personalet, høj standard vedr rengøring, imponerende morgenmads buffet på hotellets roof garden, hvor der var udsigt til Middelhavet, Akropolis og ind over hele Athen. Meget ideel beliggenhed tæt på Syntagma pladsen. Hotellet kan efter vor mening ikke blive bedre.

Tolles Hotel in ausgezeichneter Lage unmittelbar in der Nähe der Altstadt; viele grün zu sehen; viele Sehenswürdigkeiten per pedes zu erreichen; U-Bahn um die Ecke; Frühstück im Dachrestaurant ein tolles Erlebnis wegen der Aussicht (Akropolis und Zeustempel), auch abends auf einen "Absacker" in der Bar ein Erlebnis; Frühstück reichlich und für eine Woche abwechslungsreich genug; Preis/Leistung war absolut stimmig; Restaurant am Abend etwas teuer (nicht genutzt, täglich wechselnde Ankündigung klang aber sehr lecker);

Alt i alt en positiv oplevelse med en rigtig flot udsigt fra deres Roof Garden på 8. sal., hvor restauranten er placeret. Rigtig pænt hotel med god beliggenhed uden at være prangende.
