the hotel is ok, clean and tidy, can´t complain. Only two samll problems: car park, is not enough room for all the vehicles, I had to park on the street one night. And toilet, it is extremelly small. Besides that, the hotel is great

nice hotel located in an excellent spot

We stayed 5-days B&B at special offer rate. Couldn't fault the staff who were attentive and courteous, breakfasts were more than adequate and the swimming pool and jacouzzi were great. Room was basic and satisfactory but a bit dusty around the edges. Good location near to East Cliff Lift. At least a 10 minute walk into town but not difficult if you are fit.

The Good Points: Great location, with in walking distance of the beach, town centre and the B.I.C. Bad Points: The whole hotel needs a good update, the rooms lack any kind of impressive features, with the portable tv with "satalite" tv, which consisten of 1-5 then maybe 2 other chanels if your lucky, the bed didnt even have a duvet, just a top sheet and a blanket!?!?! tired looking carpet and decoration thoughout. the bathroom looked as if it had been redone in the past few years but you were only able to get a warm shower that wasnt very powerfull, but could get a hot bath due to the stupid restriction on the temp control for the shower. All in All not the best hotel ive stayed in and could do alot better for the money we payed.

This place is more for people above the age of 45. it is a good place to meet the older generation but not a good place if you are here to have fun. House keeping come knock at the door before 9am! but this place is good if you want to head straight to the beach which is 5minutes walk down the cliff.

great location close to everything, male receptionest not very friendly or helpful on arrival our room was very clean but in need of updating the biggest downfall was the bed it had had its life very uncomfortable. fantastic breakfast, and very reasonable priced bar snacks, Hotel overall was excellent value for money

For the price we paid it was a good overnight stay.Room was large but needed decorating and the carpet was badly stained.

Value for money. Definitely! The hotel itself has seen better days but is still being maintained and the room neat, and adequate. The breakfast service leaves a lot to be desired as the person in charge is a complete idiot and unfortunately the lovely, smiling and helpful ladies are ruled by a mad mullah.

Positives: larger room than we expected on fourth floor with a nice view and lots of light. Decoration better than expected. Surprisingly pleasant swimming pool for a 3* hotel. Breakfast good. Very close to the seafront and a short walk from the town centre Negatives: shower in disrepair, but clean. Walls thin so we could hear neighbours snoring. Lift small so sometimes requires a longish wait to enter. Essentially a budget hotel targeted at tour groups etc. Overall the price was very competitive, which is why the swimming pool and the (really very pleasant) room seemed such a bargain intially. However, snoring neighbours etc are a bit annoying so it depends what you are looking for. At the price we paid, you probably have to accept the rough with the smooth, unless the hotel wishes to further upgrade some facilities and reflect this in the price.

Small rooms and difficult to park. Good breakfast and location. Good area around including restaurants. We booked at very short notice and did not have much choice unfortunately.

Hotel is very well located, within walking distance of beach, bars, restaurants & clubs. Staff were friendly & helpful. Breakfast staff were a littl rude & started to clean our table before we had finished eating but on the whole a fab stay & would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is a bit passed its prime, but it is still perfectly fine. The location is good, with easy access to the beach and downtown restaurants. Parking was a bit of a hassle and I suspect it becomes a big problem during the peak season. The mattress was a little old and the brings could be felt through the sheets. Overall, I was pleased

The hotel was GREAT the room was lovely bright clean and spacious we were leaving before breakfast but had paid for it and the night porter brought continential breakfast at 5am and it was fab the dinner the night before in the resataurant was lovely and great value for money used the pool another GREAT feature of the hotel so all in all a great night and we definately go back

nice hotel cheacking was very quick and easy rooms was reasonable and everything you needed but beds a bit squeeky could do with updating breakfast very nice and plenty to choose from overall would recommend for a short break to anyone.

Although it was clean, it was shabby and in need of a complete overaul.The bed had a matress that started life as a bouncy castle, the room was too hot and we could not turn it down.The receptionist seemed unconcerned, and the lift could only take two people no luggage ,the onsuite was as small as the lift, like getting in the tardis in reverse, I could not get in front of the sink. It should have a two star rating. other Britannia Inns I have used have been great this was a big let down. Thank God it was only one night

I would not recommend anyone who is looking for a relaxing break to stay at this hotel. The weekend we stayed at this hotel, we had 2 sleepless nights due to the fact that the hotel had a number of rooms occupied by young men on a 'stag' weekend. Constant noise, crashing furniture and the using of the fire extinguisher had the effect of keeping a number of the other hotel residents awake. This resulted in complaints to the manager and a number of visits by him to the offending guests in the bedrooms. This eventually resulted in everything calming down by approximately 6am. However, after complaining the receptionist did offer us a different room, to which we moved to. However, although these guests had caused so much trouble, they remained in the hotel; and although a quieter night was had on the second night of our stay, there were still some noisy rowdy guests returning in the early hours of the morning. Additionally, the hotel bedrooms felt old and tired, with mould growing behind the radiators. The plumbing was creaky and old, and the walls between the bedrooms seemed thin, as we could hear everything occuring in the adjoining rooms. Additionally, creaky floorboards in the room above and next to us, also did not lead to a restful experience! I feel the hotel should warn all people booking with them that they do accept stag parties and this may lead to some disturbance to other residents.

This hotel was friendly & the staff were helpful. The breakfast buffet was well stocked & there too the staff were happy to help. I would be happy to stay there again. You get what you pay for & for me the price was reasonable. I would have expected to pay a bit more.

Im sorry to say this time i stayed here the room in which i was in was not very clean ie carpets dirty, and out side the window room 412 there was 2 dogs doen in the next hotel barking and this realy pissed me of, yes i did complain to the hotel at front respetion and to the hotel next door but still to no avail..

After reading a few reviews I thought it would be a test of courage. In fact it was fairly spacious, clean and comfortable. Service varied between good and forgettable. Older building, basic amenities, well populated with blue-rinse bus tourists. Food was fine and plentiful as per English taste. Close to the beach and walking distance from shops and station. I would stay there again happily.

Staff were very helpful and well mannered. Reception and dining room were nice but room wasn't so good. The room smelt of smoke on arrival and the ceiling paint was peeling in places. The room needed a good dust and a hoover but bed and bathroom were clean and adequate. Breakfast was also adequate.

Room looked grubby and in need of redecoration, on 2nd night ceiling was bulging and nearly caved in due to water leakage.

Like a lot of the hotels in the area, it's quite dated and a little rough around the edges, but overall a decent place to stay. Good - service, clean, nice dining area/food, a stone's throw from a spectaluar coast and nice beach. Bad - walls are quite thin, south facing room was very hot at night with no air con, bar was VERY expensive. We had a very noisy upstairs neighbour and with the thin walls did not appreciate being woken up at 6am everyday! It's such a big hotel I admit it would take a huge investment to do it up. Although saying that it wasn't a cheap stay.

Breakfast was satisfactory. Room itself was ok but could have had a bigger bathroom.....couldn't swing a cat, good job were not fat!!

Britannia is a wonderful hotel just a short walk from Bournemouth's pier and town centre. Every part of the hotel was pristine and professional looking at all hours of the day. A pleasure to stay in, would recommend stongly.

On arrival told by reception that my room was "not a good room". Room had no window, unusable sink, no soap, blanket that didn't cover the bed, no Internet access, a shower curtain that only reached halfway down the tub and no shampoo amongst other things. Moved my room next day at great inconvenience. Breakfast was a fight at the buffet to access the food and constant walking back and forth even with cups of tea and coffee. Very dangerous, especially as most guests were elderly. There was never any Internet access and I was directed to their sister hotel down the road, where I did my work in the lobby/bar area with the TV blaring.

Lifts take only two people and the corridors are too narrow. The restaurant feels ratehr old

If you expect your hotel rooms to be clean do NOT book at this hotel - they don't seem to own a hoover! Secondly the breakfast is very poor. I'm normally tempted by even an average full english but what they were offering was slop. Find somewhere else!

We thought this hotel would give us a basic, clean place to stay for our 4 nights but.. We choose a deluxe room after speaking to reception.They advised that we would need that size room to fit a travel cot in but did admit the room would not have any extra features over a standard room. Being honest = good. The friendly reception staff checked us in with no hassle. The room they gave us was not clean and felt more like a £30 per night B&B. Reception swapped the room no questions asked. The second room was marginally better. During their re-fit they have obviously spent the least amount of money possible as many older fittings are still there. The new stuff has been fitted quite shoddily. They seem to take the same approach to cleaning too. The bathroom was fairly clean but window sills and especially the carpet had lots of bits on them and obviously had not been touched for a while. The pale green bedspread was washed out, worn out and had several stains. The other major issue was breakfast. We're not fussy eaters and I'm tempted by even the most average full english but it was poor - very cheap sausages & bacon and the scrammbled egg was white not yellow. If you're veggie you are limited to 3 basic cereals, stale croissants and toast that tastes wierd. Overall definitely one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. This hotel does not deserve your money - if you value basic cleanliness and want a basic breakfast you can eat - book elsewhere.

The hotel is near the beach and the room was clean and bright, however the bathroom was designed for a miget, you could not get a cat in there let alone swing it. The worst feature was the Dinning room where the service was dreadful and the food little better. Eat out.

The hotel is neither poor nor good. The service is friendly as usual in UK, hotel placement is comfortable to get any point in the city. Overall condition could be described as well repaired old hotel. The room was clean enough, but the were some spots of unknown substance on the bed cover :) The bath room has no heater and is always wet, but main room is OK, breakfast is good enough... Actually, I would recomend this place if you need just bed&breakfast and nothing more...

The hotel is ok. Beakfast is pretty good. The quilt had stains on it, but was replaced promptly when asked. Its an old hotel but redone quite nicely. Asking price directly through the hotel is quite high, but through hotels.com is pretty good. The hotel is at a nice location though. Would live there again for the same price...

The Staff at the hotel were polite and helpfull, and the location of the hotel was excellent if you want to be able to walk into town in the day and the bars at night. We had no need for a taxi. The room was clean with load of coffee and tea sachets/bags. the only thing i would say is the bathroom is very small, and if someone had a disability, they would struggle in my opinion, to use the bath or shower. However it was fully functional and did the job. The breakfast was great buffet style full english or cereals and toast, and as it was help yourself i did big style, so if you have an appetite, you will enjoy the breakfast. The hotel is also very easy to find making it easy to get in and out of Bournemouth without going into the centre of the town. Enjoy your stay, we did.

Hotel is very well situated being just 10 minutes from the town and less than 5 minutes from the beach. Even has a cable car to take you to the beack at the end of the road (80 yards from hotel). Hotel was very clean, food was fantastic. I would highly recommend

Ett hotell med sentral beliggenhet, synd det meste av hotellet lukter muggent. Men hva kan man forvente når man har lagt laminat på baderomsgulvet og det er dårlig ventilasjon på rommet. Sengen var også av dårlig kvalitet, tynne madrasser hvor fjærene kjentes og kun ett laken og ett pledd som "dyne". Vi kommer nok ikke til å bo her i fremtiden.

Vi fikk lite rom som det luktet veldig røyk på først. Etter å ha klaget fikk vi først et rom i 5 etg. som ikke var bra, deretter fikk vi et rom i 2.etg. som var OK.
